Long Time No Talk!

Well hello everyone! I haven’t blogged in forever! I’ve been super busy and haven’t had time for much of anything fun the past week or so. This afternoon I’ve finally got some time to relax, so I thought I’d do a bit of blogging.

I have been able to get a couple cards made in the past week, here is one:

I sent a little RAK (random act of kindness) to two crafters I follow on YouTube, and in the packages I included this card. I used Recollections cardstock, a Cuttlebug embossing folder, and Stampin’ Up! edge punch, pearl bling, ribbon, stamp and ink.

And today when I went to take out the garbage I noticed these on the bushes outside our condo:

LEAVES! Each spring when I first spot new leaves growing I always feel a sense of renewal, it’s one of my favorite days! The tree in front of our condo is still bare, but I expect that to change soon.

This Saturday is going to be my last day of work. I am and am not looking forward to it. I like the people I work with, but I think many of the policies my company has in place are a bit silly. Here’s to looking forward and on to bigger and better things!

Feelin’ Blah

Sorry for the lack of posts lately! I feel like a bad blogger. I’ve been busy with other things, and will catch everyone up soon. This afternoon I worked on the Save the Dates I’m making, 30 are completely done! I’ve got about 20 more to do, which is super manageable. While working on them I got through the entire first season of The Office on DVD (it’s only 6 episodes long) and a couple episodes of the second season.

For dinner I made an old standard, chicken stir-fry!

This time I was craving protein so I went heavy on the chicken. I used one large and two small chicken breasts along with white rice, frozen mixed veggies and teriyaki sauce. While cooking the chicken I also added some garlic powder to the wok.

Ant went to run a couple errands this evening, and he came back with these:

Two awesome flavors of Ben & Jerry’s… we’ve really been craving Vermont’s Finest lately! We had tried the Late Night Snack before, and it was just as good the second time around. The Red Velvet Cake was also good, but I felt like I was eating strawberry ice cream because of the color… and you guys know I have a problem with that. I wasn’t in the mood for mixing the flavors, so I opted to enjoy the ice cream in two mini bowls:

I work tomorrow but then I have the next three days off, so I am excited about that. I think on Saturday we’re going to a bar where a friend of Ant’s is playing. Other than that, I just plan on cleaning up the condo.

Don’t forget that I’m a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator, and you can order from me here.

Guest Blogger!

Here is a post by my husband describing the anniversary card he made me last week.

I decided to keep my card simple. Now, some may say that means I’m untalented, and others will say they’re right. First, I cut a piece of purple cardstock in half and began my journey. I started by cutting a piece of lavender scrap paper using the largest mold of the Deckled Rectangles Nestabilities. After that, I placed it in the center of the card.
Then, I cut out the “Happy Anniversary” and Heart from the Sentimentals Cricut Cartridge. Both overlapped each other and were placed on top of dimensional adhesives. The holes on the heart were then popped out and the bling bejeweled the shape.
The final step was inking the edges of the card with a (unintentionally) light silver ink pad. It may be hard to see on the picture, but its there.
Lindsey said she enjoyed the card, so now I hope the rest of you do as well. Thanks so much and please order stuff from lindseyzaldivar.stampinup.net.

5 Loooong Years :)

Ant and I circa May 2006

5 years ago today Ant and I “officially” became boyfriend and girlfriend. We had been dating for about 3 weeks at that point. We met during our junior year of college in Columbia, Missouri; me at Stephens College and Ant at Mizzou. And while we haven’t been together for 5 straight years (we took a break after graduation), we chose to celebrate our “dating anniversary” on the original date to keep it simple.

Now that we’re married it’s fun to have 2 anniversaries each year! Although this one will always be a bit more low-key than our wedding anniversary. This is what I came home to after work today:

Pretty sunflowers! He also made me a card, so expect a guest post from him soon :). This evening he bought me about $100 worth of stuff from Stampin’ Up! I ordered a bunch of punches, twill tape, a Stamp-A-Ma-Jig and a Stampin’ Around Wheel Guide. I think that’s it, but I also qualified for 2 free stamp sets for the Sale-A-Bration. If you’re interested in Stampin’ Up! products, check out my SU! website here! The Sale-A-Bration only goes through March 31st, and with every $50 you spend you’ll qualify for a free gift of your choice (there’s tons of awesome freebies to choose from!)!

Here is the anniversary card I made for Ant:

Ant likes simple cards, so I kept this one as simple as I could. Since I have soooo much non-SU! paper I’m trying to use that up before I break in to the “good stuff,” so I used Recollections cardstock and the patterned paper is from the Green Tea stack from DCWV. The card base started out as an 8×8” piece of carstock, folded to 4×8”. The mats for the sentiment were cut with my Labels 1 Nestabilities dies. I did some hand stitching around the largest mat with a green embroidery floss. The sentiment is a SU! stamp, and the buttons were from my collection. I like how it came out!

We’re planning on going out to Stir Crazy on Friday. This weekend I’m also going to start working on my dad and Rose’s Save the Dates, they’re going to look ahhh-mazing!!!

Winter Blues Card Swap Cards!

First, I have to apologize for being soooooo late with this post! I’ve been busy with getting everything ready with my new Stampin’ Up! business. But I suppose it is fitting that I waited until today to post these since today was the first day all year I was able to go outside without a coat! Here are the cards I received from the card swap I organized in February.

1. This card and tag were sent from Lauren in Florida (renmac19 on YT). Lauren wasn’t in my group for the swap but asked if she could send me a card anyways, how sweet! I was so taken with her kindness that I sent her a card in return!
2. This card is from Cheryl in Ontario, Canada (thecraftnut32 on YT)
3. This card is from Wendy also in Ontario, Canada (wendyscreativecraftingcorner.blogspot.com)
4. This card is from Hazelle in Manitoba, Canada (scrapL0VE02 on YT)

My husband, Ant also participated in the swap, and here are the cards he received:

1. This card is from Carolanne in South Carolina (loganscraftymomma.com)
2. This is another card from Carolanne, she sent 2 cards which was so sweet!
3. This card is from Cassie in Florida (flapaperlover.blogspot.com). Cassie also sent some cute papers, a butterfly punch border and a little stamp set, so sweet!

My husband was in a group with 2 other people who he did not receive cards from. We were both pretty disappointed about that! If you can’t fulfill your obligation when signing up for a swap, please just don’t sign up! I’m not sure if the other ladies in his group received cards from the people who didn’t send Ant cards or not.

Here is the card Ant created to send out to the crafters in his group:

He was pretty proud of it! Here is what he used to create the card:

Cardstock scraps
-DCWV patterned paper
Fiskars texture plate
-Just Because Cards Cricut cartridge (background shapes)
-Create A Critter Cricut cartridge (flower and sun)
-“hello” stamp

I didn’t take a picture of the cards I sent out, but here is the video tutorial I made featuring the card:

I loved all the cards we received and will be displaying them in the craft room! Thank you to everyone who participated in the Winter Blues Card Swap, it was so much fun!
